CBD Low Down: Does this stuff really work?!

Hey all you cool cats and kittens! (Sorry, had to) But seriously, lets talk something a little more current than Tiger King and a LOT better for you; the latest in CBD efficacy research and why we at iCBD feel you will experience a wide range of benefits when using our products.

Let’s start with a quick refresher by answering two common questions; What exactly is CBD and will it get me high? CBD is the second most prevalent ingredient amongst all active ingredients in cannabis. But that’s not where the CBD oils you see on our site or on shelves nationwide typically stem from. Nearly all CBD in the marketplace is derived from a cousin of the cannabis plant, known as “hemp”. Hemp has been used for hundreds of years for a variety of day-to-day things and has been grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products, such as paper. It is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 50,000 years ago. Hemp parallels cannabis in a myriad of ways, but in order for us to utilize hemp for CBD use, the extracted oil must contain less than 0.3% THC to be considered legal for sale. THC as many of you know, is the most prevalent and psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. The cool part is, this trace amount in legal hemp will NOT get you high! So hemp remains our safest and most abundant source of CBD oil extraction.

Has all of this “science” been tested? According to a 2017 report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits NO effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

However, since we are not doctors or scientists, we’ll take this a step further and lean on the publishings of a Medical Doctor named Peter Grinspoon of the Massachusetts Medical Center and teacher at Harvard Med School, to elaborate. Here’s an excerpt from his April 2018, Harvard Medical Blog post, in which Dr. Grinspoon wrote, “CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep. CBD may also offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain.”

Dr. Grinspoon goes on to suggest that science still lacks a true measure of the most effective dose, suggesting that it falls back on each individual’s tolerance, what their ailment is, etc. This is exactly why we at ICBD offer a baseline dosing approach to safely work your way up to an effective treatment level. It is also unknown how CBD responds when mixed with other medicines, so it is strongly encouraged that users consult their physician prior to use.

As all of the positive evidence surrounding the inflammatory reduction capabilities of CBD continues to mount; we want to keep the momentum going by strongly encouraging every Don’t Be Sad user to share your experience with our products. We highly value customer feedback and aim to ensure we do our part in helping support data and research around this amazing, all-natural supplement.
